The great spiritual master Thomas Merton once said of the Psalms “Those whose vocation in the Church is prayer, find that they live on the psalms, for the psalms enter into every department of the life.” We hear and read the psalms every week, yet what are the saying to us about life today? In our liturgy the psalms are proclaimed more than any other book in the first testament, and how often do we REALLY contemplate their meaning for us, who are disciples in the world today?
